The way
dry cleaners near me charge is by the surface area of the fabric they have to clean. So, if you have a big room, it will cost quite a lot. Sometimes after dry-cleaning, the curtains will smell like cleaning solvents. If this is the case, you must air them out before you hang them back up for use.

Dry-Cleaning is sometimes returned on a pole such as a peg-rail. If your dry-cleaning is returned in such a way, it is very efficient to hook the rail onto something near a window or door and to open it so that the outside air dry out the dry-cleaning. If you have a clothes line, that is a better option.

Because of the way dry-cleaning is washed, you cannot use them in tumble dryers. The chemicals that are used to clean the dry-cleaning are flammable and so tumble dryers pose a fire risk. Even if you use a "no-heat" option, it is not intelligent to dry the dry-cleaning in that manner.

Some curtains have a specific code; certain curtains may allow you to use Laundromats to get your dry-cleaning done. If this is the case, you can get away with spending a fraction of the price by avoiding the dry-cleaners. Even so, you still have to dry out the dry-cleaning outside or through other means.

Sometimes you can dry-clean your curtains while they are still hanging up. That is why it is wise to buy curtains that allow you to do this. Such curtains will have pelmets that will need to be dry-cleaned as well.

Hand-washing net and voile curtains

Sheers that are delicate need specific handling; they are easily enough to hand-wash in warm, soapy water. Many times you can use a bathtub to do so. Remember to rinse them in cold water. Do not use hot water, as this will be detrimental to the curtains. Once you have rinsed them in cold water, fold them vertically and then hang them outside on a line. Wet curtains need to be dried immediately to avoid damage.

If your white curtains have become yellow, use a bio-detergent or net-whitener. Such products can be bought at local department stores or supermarkets. Also, remember that if there are creases left on the curtains as they dry, they could become permanent.
