Filing your GST return accurately and on time is crucial for staying compliant and avoiding penalties. In this guide, we explain how to file a GST return in a straightforward, step-by-step way to help you navigate the process smoothly.
First, log in to the GST portal using your credentials and head to the Returns Dashboard. Select the correct financial year and return period — whether it’s monthly or quarterly — to begin the filing process. Next, choose the appropriate return form. For most businesses, this means GSTR-1 for outward supplies and GSTR-3B for a summary of sales, purchases, tax liability and input tax credit.
Now, upload your invoice data. You can either use the online mode or make use of the GST offline utility to prepare JSON files and then upload them.
