I try to find out the best way to rent a car when I’m traveling between cities. Airports are always so expensive, and the hidden fees make my head spin. At the same time, I don’t want to end up at some random place with outdated cars or terrible service. Ideally, I’d love to find something close to where I’m staying, easy to pick up and drop off, and not overly pricey. Does anyone have tips on how to locate trustworthy rentals nearby without wasting hours searching or paying too much?

Last year I had the same issue while visiting several smaller towns. What really helped me was searching specifically for a car rental near me rather than automatically going to airport chains. I found this platform https://getrentacar.com/en-US/car-rental It collects offers from various rental companies and private car owners. It let me easily compare prices, locations, and car types all in one place, and I ended up picking a car just a few blocks from my hotel. It was way less stressful than navigating the airport options, and I saved quite a bit too
