Vidalista, a brand containing Tadalafil, is used primarily to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Once ingested, Tadalafil is absorbed into the bloodstream and undergoes metabolic processing mainly in the liver through specific enzymatic pathways.
The primary metabolic pathway for VIDALISTA involves the cytochrome P450 3A4 enzyme (CYP3A4). This liver enzyme facilitates the oxidation of Tadalafil, converting it into inactive metabolites that are eventually excreted from the body. This pathway plays a crucial role in regulating how long the drug remains active and effective in the system.
After metabolism, about 36% of the drug is excreted in the urine and around 61% in the feces, mainly in the form of metabolites. The half-life of Tadalafil is approximately 17.5 hours, which allows for prolonged activity, making it effective for up to 36 hours.
Certain drugs can inhibit or induce CYP3A4, affecting how Vidalista is metabolized. For example:
CYP3A4 inhibitors (like ketoconazole or ritonavir) can increase Tadalafil levels and risk side effects.
CYP3A4 inducers (like rifampin) can reduce its effectiveness.
Therefore, understanding Vidalista's metabolic pathways is essential for safe and effective use, particularly when combined with other medications.
