Malegra 100 contains sildenafil citrate, a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor used to treat erectile dysfunction. Sildenafil works by increasing blood flow to the penis but can also affect blood vessels in other parts of the body, including the eyes. Specifically, Malegra 100 mg inhibits PDE6, an enzyme found in the retina responsible for phototransduction—the process by which light is converted into electrical signals. This inhibition can temporarily alter color perception and cause visual disturbances such as blurred vision, increased sensitivity to light, or a blue-green tint. These effects are usually mild and reversible but occur because sildenafil impacts retinal enzymes involved in normal vision processing.
