Malegra FXT is a combination medication used primarily to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and premature ejaculation (PE). It contains two active ingredients: Sildenafil Citrate (100 mg) – A PDE5 inhibitor that increases blood flow to the penis, helping men achieve and sustain an erection when sexually stimulated. Fluoxetine (20 mg) – A selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that helps delay ejaculation and is often used to treat premature ejaculation. Is Malegra FXT Used by Athletes? While Malegra FXT is not specifically intended for athletic performance, there are a few considerations that could make its use tempting to some athletes, although it is not recommended for this purpose. Reasons Athletes Might Consider Using Malegra FXT Enhanced Performance Under Stress: Fluoxetine, one of the active ingredients, is an SSRI that helps manage anxiety and may reduce stress. Athletes sometimes deal with performance anxiety, and SSRIs can have a calming effect. However, Fluoxetine is prescribed for long-term mood management, not for performance anxiety in short bursts like during sports. Increased Focus and Control: Fluoxetine also impacts serotonin levels, which could theoretically have mood-enhancing effects, helping athletes stay focused or calm during competitions. However, this is not the intended purpose of the medication, and its use for athletic purposes is highly controversial. PDE5 Inhibition: Sildenafil (the other active ingredient in Malegra FXT) is used to treat ED by improving blood flow to the penis.
