Aurogra 100 contains sildenafil citrate, which is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) inhibitor. The primary indication for the use of Aurogra 100 is the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). Here is an explanation of its mechanism of action:

Release of Nitric Oxide (NO):

  • Sexual stimulation triggers the release of nitric oxide (NO) in the erectile tissue of the penis. Nitric oxide then activates an enzyme called guanylate cyclase.

Increased cGMP Levels:

  • Guanylate cyclase catalyzes the conversion of guanosine triphosphate (GTP) into cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). This leads to an increase in the levels of cGMP in the smooth muscle cells of the erectile tissue.

Relaxation of Smooth Muscles:

  • Elevated cGMP levels cause relaxation of the smooth muscles in the penile arteries and corpus cavernosum (erectile tissue). This relaxation allows increased blood flow into the penis.

Increased Blood Flow:

  • As the smooth muscles relax and blood vessels dilate, there is an enhanced blood flow to the penis. This increased blood flow contributes to the mechanism of achieving and maintaining an erection.

PDE-5 Inhibition:

  • Phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) is an enzyme that breaks down cGMP. By inhibiting PDE-5, sildenafil citrate prolongs the action of cGMP, maintaining its elevated levels in the erectile tissue.

Sustained Erection:

  • The inhibition of PDE-5 by sildenafil allows for sustained levels of cGMP, promoting prolonged relaxation of the smooth muscles and continued blood flow to the penis. This helps men with erectile dysfunction achieve and maintain an erection when sexually aroused.
