Zenegra 100 contains Sildenafil citrate as its active ingredient. Sildenafil Zenegra 100 is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor, and it works by enhancing the effects of a naturally occurring chemical in the body called nitric oxide. Here's how the mechanism of action of Zenegra 100 (Sildenafil) works:
Relaxation of Blood Vessels: During sexual arousal, the body releases nitric oxide in the penis. Nitric oxide stimulates the production of a molecule called cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). cGMP is responsible for relaxing the smooth muscles of the blood vessels in the penis, allowing them to dilate (widen).
Increased Blood Flow: The relaxation and dilation of the blood vessels in the penis lead to increased blood flow to the erectile tissues. This influx of blood fills the spongy chambers in the penis called the corpora cavernosa, causing the penis to become erect.
PDE5 Inhibition: To maintain an erection, the body needs to regulate the levels of cGMP. An enzyme called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) breaks down cGMP, leading to the relaxation of the penile blood vessels and a return to a flaccid state. Sildenafil in Zenegra 100 works by inhibiting the action of PDE5. This inhibition increases the levels of cGMP, prolonging the relaxation and dilation of blood vessels in the penis, and sustaining the erection.
It's important to note that Zenegra 100, like other medications containing Sildenafil, does not cause spontaneous erections. Sexual stimulation is still required to initiate the release of nitric oxide and activate the mechanism described above. Zenegra 100 enhances the body's natural response to sexual arousal, making it easier for men with erectile dysfunction to achieve and maintain an erection.
