  SANTA CRUZ -- Erin Burton of Santa Cruz already boasts a decent array of jewelry made out of glass of the ocean, but that didn't keep her from looking more to the fourth annual Sea Glass and Ocean Art Festival held near the Coconut Grove.

  Burton, 31, was in the crowd eyeing the colorful rings, necklaces and bracelets on display Saturday as a result of 40 possibly even longer vendors who traveled from various areas of the country to take part in the festival that showcases unique items manufatured with sea glass,Bracelet Designs.

  The festival continues Sunday.

  "That it's through sea thinking that it's natural lures me,Skull Bracelet," Burton said. "That someone's trash evolves into jewelry basically could be the thing I love."

  The sea glass festival is definitely the creation of Krista Hammond, a North Coast resident who married her childhood hobby of gathering sea glass within the beach with making jewelry to start an internet business seven before.

  She created the festival with supporting the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation and carry together sea glass artists throughout to show off their goods.

  A portion of the $3 entrance fee is donated of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Exploration Center, which opened across belonging to the Municipal Wharf earlier this summer.

  "Sea glass gives us a memory of these ocean, a memory in a honeymoon. It is the epitome belonging to the ocean," Hammond, 41, said. "Something sharp and awful is changed into precious glass. The ocean is constantly giving to us."

  Most belonging to the jewelry on display was made of bright indigo, smoky gray, lime green, seagreen, rare reds and oranges glass emerge sterling silver.

  Pieces ranged from $20-$400 or maybe more in some cases. Hammond showed an uncommon red glass ring at a cost tag of $700.

  Hammond said she only allows vendors within a festival who be employed by glass they've on a beach themselves. No imports or machine tumbled glass is permitted, she said.

  Vendors Chaz Winkler and Dorothy Hope of Nags Head, N.C., said collecting sea glass should be a passion.

  "Once you select up a seaglass, you're hooked," Winkler said. "It's tricky stop looking."
