I am considering the development of a niche ERP that would be used by local HVAC and plumbing firms. It is an under-served industry that is boring. Do these niche ideas typically have too small Total Addressable Market (TAM)? Seeking some old time experience of the community techzeel founders.

“Boring” industries often look like a trap from the outside, but they can be highly profitable if you build a strong vertical. I’ve seen this firsthand working with emergency plumbing companies—demand is constant, competition is fragmented, and customers value speed over price. When I helped promote localplumbingemergency, we noticed that even small improvements in response time and local SEO brought consistent leads. It’s not flashy, but that’s the advantage—fewer hype-driven competitors and more predictable revenue. If you execute well, a “boring” niche can quietly outperform trendier markets.
