Hey everyone, I’ve recently had a bit of a scare online. I got a message on one of my social media accounts that looked like it was from a friend, but something felt off. They were asking me to click a link and “confirm my account” — I almost did it without thinking! It got me wondering how many of these scams are actually out there and how careful we all really need to be. Has anyone else had an experience like this? I’m trying to figure out what to look for before trusting anything I see on social media.

I totally get what you’re saying, I’ve been caught off guard a few times myself. I’ve learned to always double-check links and be skeptical of anything that asks for personal info, even if it comes from someone I know. There’s a helpful article I found that explains these situations in detail — it’s called 3 Common Social Media Scams To Watch Out For — it really breaks down the most frequent tricks people use and how to spot them before it’s too late.

Interesting thread! I don’t use social media much myself, so I can’t say I’ve run into any scams, but it’s good to know these things exist. Personally, I just stick to email notifications for important accounts and rarely click on anything I don’t expect. Makes life a bit simpler, I guess.
