Fees apply for excess, overweight (over 23kg), or oversized (over 158cm) checked bags, starting at NZD $75 for short-haul and NZD $150 for long-haul per bag, with costs escalating for heavier items; pre-purchasing online reduces these fees. Special items like surfboards incur specific charges and require advance notification. Passengers travelling with infants receive a 10kg checked bag allowance for the infant in addition to their own allowance, and essential items like strollers and car seats travel free of charge. To manage baggage effectively, use the Air New Zealand app, weigh bags at home, and consider fare perks; always verify the latest policy on the official website before travel, as rules are subject to change.
